Kính thưa qúy Cha, qúy Sơ và toàn thể Cộng Đoàn dân Chúa. Được sự đồng ý của Cha quản nhiệm con xin được chia sẽ vài lời về ơn thiên triệu. Sau hai năm tu học trong nhà dòng Maryknoll con vừa được tuyên thệ lời khấn lần đầu. Maryknoll là một nhà dòng truyền giáo tại nước ngoài qua những công việc phục vụ dân nghèo. Maryknoll phục vụ ba vùng nghèo trên thế giới, Châu Á, Châu Phi và Nam Mỹ. Các linh mục Maryknoll tìm đủ mọi cách để truyền giáo, như là xây dựng nhà thờ, viện dưỡng lão, trại mồ côi, dạy học, phục vụ y tế, và một số việc khác.
Có nhiều người đã hỏi con rằng tại sao thời buổi này có ít ơn gọi.
Theo như con nhận xét, câu hỏi này không hoàn toàn đúng tại vì con thấy ơn gọi thì rất nhiều, nhưng điều thiếu là những lời nâng đỡ và khuyến khích của các bạc phụ huynh cho các bạn trẻ. Các bạn trẻ ít có dịp để tìm hiểu sâu đạm về đức tin của mình và cuộc sống tu hành. Vì vạy, những dịp như ngày hôm nay có thể tạo cho các bạn trẻ một môi trường hiểu biệt.
Thưa toàn thể Cộng Đoàn, con và các em tu sĩ của giáo xứ mình biết rằng khi đi tu học, ngoài Hồng Ân Chúa ra, không có gì nâng đỡ tinh thần chúng con bằng biết rằng giáo xứ của mình đang dâng bao nhiêu lời cầu nguyện và lời ủng hộ. Con xin đại diện cho các em tu sĩ dâng lên một lời cảm tạ đến với gia đình, bạn hữu, và toàn thể Cộng Đoàn.
Sau đây, con xin phép được nói vài lời tiếng Anh cho các bạn trẻ.
My young friends, Pope Benedict has declared this year to be a year of prayer for priests, more generally, for all vocations. In this spirit, I invite all of you to be curious about being a priest or nun. Let me make a few points for you to think about if you are wondering what being in religious life is about.
Religious life is about a life of loving service for your neighbor, near or far away. Sơn, Lâm, and Thắng, will serve people here in our area, Thảo and Xuân will serve people in a different state, and I will serve people in a different country. If you are thinking that religious life is boring, let me tell you, I bet there are just as many different “career” for priests and sisters as there are for you who have just graduated from college. If you are thinking that you cannot give up money or cars, let me tell, no money – no problem, it feels very good to be free from that burden of making money and allowing God to take care of you. I also have more time to be with people. Most of you might be thinking that it is too hard to not have a gf or bf, well, no gf – no bf – no headache. Being celibate allows me to love all the people I meet just as Jesus did. This is a hot topic that would take hours to talk about, come see me and we can talk more about it.

Trước hết con xin chân thành cảm ơn quý Cha, quý Sơ, và Cộng Đoàn đã cầu nguyện và nâng đở tinh thần, giúp chúng con được vững tin vào ƠN GỌI.
Con xin được trình bày tóm tắt Ơn Chúa đã ban cho con. Ngài đã cho con nhận biết Chúa sẽ luôn ở bên cạnh con và dìu dắt hướng dẫn con đi theo tiếng gọi của Ngài. Nhưng, chúng con là những người còn non trẻ và yếu đuối; kính xin quý cha, quý sơ và cộng đoàn tiếp tục cầu nguyện cho chúng con bước đi theo Ngài. Sau đây con xin được chia sẽ vài lời với các bạn trẻ.
Good afternoon my friends, I earnestly invite to you to raise your hands if you find the following questions apply to you.
- Have you ever wondered what it is that God wants you to do?
- Are you afraid to ask those questions b/c you are afraid to hear the answers?
I am here to tell you that you are not alone. At some point in our lives we ask at least one of these questions. Honestly, I was afraid when I faced those questions and answers as I took my first step into religious life. However, God poured out his unconditional love and encourages me to place my hands into his, so that he can guide me. Walking with Christ I have found my strength and courage to continue this journey as my faith grows in Him.
So now my friends, I would like to ask you, where is Christ in you life? Because He is knocking on the doors of your hearts waiting to come and be a part of your life. He is a friend who would listen to you during your moments of ups and downs, anywhere at any given time. I would like to use the VYC theme: BE NOT AFRAID to conclude. So Be Not Afraid to open the door and accept God’s unconditional love into your hearts.
